Privacy Policy - Reminder
Effective date: September 25, 2026
This policy explains what data the Reminder Android app ("Reminder", "the app") collects, how it is used, and who to contact about it. Reminder is a small, self-hosted app built by one person (Troels) for personal and family use; the description below reflects exactly what the app does today, not a generic template.
Who operates this app
Reminder is developed and operated by Troels Larsen ("we", "us"), trading as Wailing Bay. The backend that stores your data runs on infrastructure we own and administer directly - it is not operated by a third-party hosting or analytics company.
Information we collect
- Account information. Reminder uses Google Sign-In to authenticate you. When you sign in, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with the app so we can identify your account. We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Task data. Anything you enter into the app - task titles, schedules, recurrence settings, and completion history - is sent to our server and stored so the app can show it back to you (and, where you've set up a shared household, to the other members of that household).
- Technical data. Standard request metadata (such as IP address and timestamps) is generated by normal web traffic to our server and may appear transiently in server logs used for operating and debugging the service. We do not use this data for analytics, profiling, or advertising.
What we don't do
- We do not run analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in the app.
- We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
How we use your information
Your account and task data are used solely to operate the app: authenticating you, storing and syncing your tasks and reminders, and - if you're part of a shared household - showing relevant task data to other members of that household. We do not use your data for any other purpose.
Third-party services
Sign-in is handled by Google (Google Sign-In / Android Credential Manager). Google's own handling of your account information during sign-in is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not integrate any other third-party service that receives your data.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on a server we operate and is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Access to the underlying infrastructure is limited to us.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and task data for as long as your account is active. To request deletion, see Delete Your Data.
Children's privacy
Reminder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Since this is a small, actively developed app, check back occasionally if you have concerns.
